It's my best friends birthday soon. We've been best friends for 11 years. She's turning 11, I'm also 11. That means she's been my best friend since birth. I know lots of things she'll like but I can't decide. It's been a tradition for me to give her a teddy bear but I'm scared she's grown out of it. I always gave her a bear and she always loved it. Lately she's been changing though. Becoming a bit meaner. We are TOTAL opposites. I'm a bookworm and she loves sports. I love Harry Potter and she hates it. She's sort of a tomboy. So is something like a teddy bear still a good idea?

Something you should always remember for the rest of your life, dear child. Friends are forever and always. They will be there in your time of need. As you get older they will be there when on one else is. A friend is someone, who knows all about you, and still wants to stay your friend. You can never have to many friends. A friend is to always have a shoulder to cry on.
Give her the teddy bear, with some of what I just told you written inside the birthday card.

God Bless you both

You seem very mature for an 11 year old?? Maybe she will not appreciate it at the moment, since 11 year olds don't usually grasp concepts like tradition. So either explain to her how you've always done it and even though she may think it's baby, it means that you are still her best friend and that hasn't changes, or maybe look for a more mature bear, like a "bad taste bear"??

This is a hard question to answer. Tradition has it's place, but it may be time for a change. Perhaps it's time to give her something other than a bear, maybe a video game, or a CD. Even a jogging outfit since she's into sports. You know her well I would guess so you should be able to come up with something else she would be happy to get.

Give her something she will like .
Sounds oversimplified. But it is the best thing to do.
You two will probably always be friends, but be prepared for some changes. Your friend will most likely play sports in high school, she sounds like she's on the path to be a leader. Class president, most likely to succeed, sports awards etc. You probably will become the head of a corporation, or at least upper management.
There may be a side of her that will always want that teddy bear.
Go with your heart.

If you think she's outgrown it, try getting her something different that you'll think she'll appreciate, but also maybe get her just a little teddy bear as well (but not make it the main present), as a reminder of your tradition.

why not give her a small teddy bear - for tradition sake - and another sporty gift - which suits more to the person that she is becoming.... u can get small gifts.. it does not have to be expensive... but i think she will appreciate if you do that for her

try skipping the teddy bear this year, and see if a pack of baseball cards, or something of a similar nature would give her pleasure.

11years wow how grown up you both are getting their is nothing wrong with getting your best friend another teddy bear but their is all so nothing wrong with surprising your best friend with something difference it dosent matter what it is as long as its from the heart. as you get older you do change go with it and being different makes us who we are, good luck.
