Im a latino, and in our case is a little different. People rarely mistake our ethnicity, because is so easy to tell we are latinos, but for a huge percentage of people all they know is Mexico, and for them we are all mexicans and that is totally wrong, there are at least 18 different countries in Central and South America considered LATINOS and they dont have anything to do with Mexico besides being both latinos.

It doesn't really bother me.
Some German tourists I met thought that I was a German. One woman asked me a question in German, and since I don't speak the language, she was perplexed that I did not answer her question.

Many people have asked my son if he is Chinese. He is not. He is Native American and White.
Chinese people came to his school for culture week when he was in 4th grade.
During their presentation, they said to my son: "You look Chinese, would you come to the front of the class and demonstrate how to eat with chopsticks?"
He used to get upset about all of this. I think it was because
of the ignorance and prejudice of some of the local kids, who taunted him, calling him "China boy", etc.
I told him not to be upset, because there is nothing wrong with being Chinese or whatever ethnicity a person may be. And I told him to gently inform them that "I am Native American, not Chinese."

Sometimes people think I'm Australian but in fact I'm not. That's because I lived in Melbourne for a number of years and can't shake off the Aussie 'twang' I picked up.
It can be annoying when people think I support Australia in cricket but that's about the end of it.

it depends. if people thought i was greek or spanish or something instead of italian then i would be like 'close enough' and if ppl thought i was more than half mediterranean i'd be flattered but if ppl thought i was just plain white (like of uk/western european descent) i'd be insulted bcuz thats boring.
