I'm arranging a pilgrimage which is set to happen in Central Luzon & I'm considering Bulacan & Bataan...however, there aren't a lot of info sources on Bataan churches (except this perhaps: http://www.balangadiocese.com/directory.htm, found in: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnaoohBNi5rn26Lq.S324Y5IzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20071120075236AA0XNJj). If I try to stick to Bulacan only, what are the churches there that you would suggest for pilgrimage? How beautiful are the churches you would suggest & what are their significance/importance/value?
(significance may be religious, historical, aesthetic, etc.)
Please stick to Bulacan & Bataan suggestions only. MuchaThanks!

sorry to tell you Rax, but I've found so many seemingly beatiful & historically rich churches in Bulacan (as compared to Bataan, that is)... I've already tried wowphilippines & bulacan.gov.ph...

eezy_jex ®, Thanks! could you please tell me more as to their history? & what makes Balanga & Orani churches special?

there's also this Divine Mercy shrine in Marilao, Bulacan (it has a website on geocities...unfortunately, I forgot about it) that really seemed to have gone through miracles (they're common anyway...) They say it's now a common pilgrimage site...

timbers, don't worry. we're not going to churches just to please our eyes. :) my team is trying to create a sort of spiritual program in relation with the patrons of the venues so that we wouldn't just go to the place just to appreciate their aesthetical aspects... we would be making special offerings for each place we visit; and we wish those offerings would be significant to the venue/s.

I've chosen Bataan after imacatholic2 has given me a very helpful directory as an answer to a previous question. Thanks to imacatholic2!

Bataan? Balanga was good. But the Catholic church in Orani, Bataan was better.

First Abucay Catholic Church:
On this site a fierce battle between the Dutch and the natives together with defenders took place in June 23, 1647. The church is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. It housed the first printing press in the country which outdated any single press in the US.

I love to visit the local cathedrals when I travel.

In the province of Bulacan, try the Malolos Cathedral or the Malolos Bascilica.

In Bataan, try the
Cathedral of St. Joseph
Balanga 2100 Bataan
Tel./Fax: (047) 237-3226

With love in Christ.

There's not much to visit in Bulacan, maybe only the Barasoin Church in Malolos. It's historical.

I hope you're not going on vacation just to see churches.
