Different.

Instinct is an unlearned response. Common sense is one which is gained either by experience or an intellectualized approach.

When you get your foot stuck, instinct says to pull it out. Your first, unlearned reaction, is to yank in the opposite direction. Common sense would be what takes over when you realize there are consequences to immediately yanking it out.

It's why we don't typically chew our leg off when we get it trapped, and animals have been known to.

The basic difference is that common has some form of logic or rationality, derived from accumulated experience/wisdom, behind it where as instinct is just a gut reaction with no visible reasons to support it.That's why a common sense based decision has greater chance to succeed than the one based on instinct, which may turn out to be true under extreme circumstances with no clue in sight to handle them.

They are different. Common Sense is something that should make sense to everyone. like it is not nice to kick people in the face. where as instinct is something natural and requires no thought at all. like if someone is kick you in the face and it is unexpected you dodge before you know what it going on. I hope this has helped you. If not I am here so just ask me.

Common sense comes from life experience. We notice that people wear certain things so we wear similiar clothing. Books don't usually teach us these things so we have to figure things out by living life. Instinct is inborn and it has to do with survival. If something tastes bad then you don't want to eat it. I see where you might think these two are similiar because we are not aware of both kinds of knowledge. You may not know that you are learning just by noticing but you know when you are being instructed or learning from a book.

Different! Instinct does not have any logic behind and it comes from sub-conscious mind. Whereas common-sense is logical and from conscious brain.

I think your instinct tells you it's not and you won't ask this question if you had enough common sense.
