if so, can you share your experiences with me? I'd like to visit this summer.

Twice, though it has been quite some time now.

If you love baseball (I surely do), the rich and deep history of it, the Hall and the Museum are like heroin. Turn off the cell, ditch the Blackberry, and just wander the whole place for a day (remember to break for lunch). There is so much, names you know, names you don't, manifested through pictures and descriptions and films and artifacts, gloves and bats and balls and shoes and pins and plaques and trophies and all sorts of sundry personal items. The men (and some women) and the game are written so deeply into the national fabric that it has an intoxicating effect -- too much, but give me yet more!

Go, visit. Give yourself a very loose schedule. Bring a camera.

And bring money. Almost everything about Cooperstown is olde-fashioned, except the prices.

Yes, about 8 years ago. The Hall is a wonderful place, especially if you enjoy baseball history, and I was awed by it. Remember though, this is a fairly traditional place, and not a multimedia experience dreamed up by Peter Jackson or Steven Spielberg, so go in with the right expectations. I loved it.

The best thing about Cooperstown, as good as the HOF is, is that it's not just the HOF stuck in the middle of nowhere. The area is stunningly beautiful, the town itself is a throwback to another era and there. While the hall is exciting, at the same time it's very relaxing and refreshing.

The town is on a huge lake, 9-10 miles long I think, and it's gorgeous. There are other museums as well, like the Fenimore museum, which has lots of Native American artifacts, and the Farmer's museum. There are also lots of tasteful music and art events there. Finally, don't miss the brewery tour- Belgian ale!

So enjoy the Hall, it's great. But don't forget the other stuff.

I visited the hall a few years ago. it was amazing. All the history they keep track of. Photos, bats, balls, gloves, uniforms, etc.

They have a room with all the plaques. They have a life sized statue of The Babe (which is my favorite thing in the hall).

They have things like Joe D and Aaron's locker, which you can stand in. They have a theater where you can watch a show. They have a section devoted to Womens baseball too.

Also, I don't know if he was a regular fan or a guy that's always there, but I remember there was a guy dressed as an old ***** League Homestead Grays player. That was pretty cool.

The town itself is really cool. It's very old fashioned looking. They have old fashioned Candy Stores, Diners, Ice Cream Parlors, etc. They have a bunch of places where you can buy autographs and other memorabilia.

It's a great experience for any baseball fan.

Yeah...my parents brought me there as a kid...I have also been to the Hockey and Basketball Hall of Fames and Baseball was by far the best with Hockey right behind. I have been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame too but that one doesn't really count...and doesn't even come close anyway. The Baseball one is just too cool...not just the hall either but the entire town. There are baseball shops all over and it is just a cool, historic city.

I went just last month and it was awesome. I was totally in awe about how nice the town was and the museum itself was amazing. There were so many artifacts there that are absolutlely incredible. It really makes you think about how baseball has been apart of the lives of people for over a hundred years.

When I went, it was in the middle of the week and school was in session. Not many places in town were open because of that. I would love to get back there during the summer.

I have been to the HOF twice most recent trip was summer of 2002.....What a great place to vist if your a baseball fan!!! Plus Cooperstown has alot of stuff for the non baseball fan to do like shopping!! I can not wait to bring my sons to the HOF and see their faces!!! You feel like a kid again when you walk around looking at the exhibits esp when its an exhibit that is has to do with something you seen or heard on the raido your mind just replays that hit catch or play!!! The HOF is a place that you will not forget...Also its not that big where it will take you hours upon hours to see everything...unless its crowded then it takes time unless you skip exhibits and return the next day.... Enjoy your trip great family vacation!!!

I visited it (finally )a couple of years and I absolutely loved it. I would recommend that you try to secure lodging ASAP because decent places within walking distance of the HOF do fill up fast-and you do want to be within walking distance because Cooperstown itself is the kind of place that is best explored on foot, that and the fact that traffic in town is horrible in summer. There is shuttle bus that wiil get you around .
Coopertown in summer is simply, put baseball junkie heaven ,little groups of people in restaurants and shops talking baseball.
Have a great time

Yes in 1975, if you love baseball you should go. I got used to the Internet, so I go to their web site allot, which I know isn't the same thing, but I got lazy lol. Also, you should go to the Yogi Berra museum, in NJ, even if you are not a Yankees fan. It's allot like the baseball HOF, just on a smaller scale, and it's filled with allot of baseball memorabilia from the 1940's - present & a movie theater, that looks like a baseball stadium The best part of the Yogi Berra museaum, they have a room with the wall filled with Yogism's, which if you ever read any are histerical.

We went up this summer for Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn's induction. It was great. You could spend weeks there and not see everything. Tons of great stores and resturants. Lots of baseball fans and the Hall is great so many items All that was missing was the Bary Bonds ball branded w/an asertick. You definatly got to go there. Lots of items like Schilling's bloody sOck and Carl yastremski jersey from the Impossible Dream season, a big statue of Ted Williams, and unfortunetly the ball from Buckner. Great for photos.
