Why are some people on Y!A so rude and ignorant?

I've noticed more rude people in the Child & Pregnancy section than I have in any other section so far...

I can ask a simple, honest question and get all sorts of peeved mums basically saying stuff like I should have known better etc....

I mean, would I be asking for help on Y!A if I had known something beforehand???

What makes some of these ignorant mums so cranky? Is it because their own lives are just that 'sad'?

Don't get me wrong - the majority of the mums that answer my questions are really sweet and helpful, but whats gone 'wrong' with those other mums? Is it me, or what....?

I've noticed that too, this irritability online. Mostly I think it's that when logging in, people no longer see each other as people. Because they're sitting at a computer they think of every bit of information coming before them as some sort of game or tool that exists solely for them, and they feel no human obligation of civility or golden rule. If you walked up to someone and wrote them a note saying they were a jerk for asking a simple question, they might slap you in the face. If you walked up to them and played a recording of the same thing it's no different. The internet is the only medium of communication that seems to make people feel safe and distant enough from the consequences of their own actions to disassociate what they do from themselves, and treat everyone like crap. Kind of cowardly and sad actually.

I think that the fact that someone is making the effort to find is great! Take the good advise and ignore the stupid and rude comments. Some people will say stuff like that just because thhey are hidden behind a computer screen using a fake name - they wouldn't have the guts in real life!

Maybe because you call them MUMs which I personally find very irritating, and if I called my mom that she respond by smacking me in the eye. Kidding! To answer your question, they are probably having some fun at your expense. Other times maybe you just really do NEED to be yelled at in the hope that maybe next time you don't make the same mistakes, much like anyone with more experience would do to someone with much less. Maybe, they are just buttholes.

Its just a matter of misconception, there are lot of nice people here who never ask questions and answer religiously, you were in the wrong place were majority of participants fall to the so called "weaker species" also seasoned one these people are vicious everywhere. Hope we will meet at some more friendly places.

I've noticed that if someone knows something themselves, they seem to think that everyone should automatically know it. They tend to be more rude on here than they would be in person, because they can sit behind a computer screen and be judgmental, knowing that no one on here knows what kind of person they really are.

just ignore them, they are bitter or hurt by something and they are taking it out on a stranger. Try to forgive the anger and the ignorance and remember how it feels, when you want to give an angry answer to someone.

There are some people who that is all the joy they get out of life making you a little bit miserable if they can.
