You have to throw a lot of (bowling) balls to become a professional bowler. Of course the better ball thrower you are, ends up only one per frame but you get 3 chances in the 10th frame..
Dropping the ball and lopping the ball are signs of inexperience and very hard on the wood surface.

I know some professionals that only have one, in fact they sometimes bring their "lucky" ball with them everywhere they go & sometimes even sleep with it! But I think that's a bit much. ;-) I have two, but U can only legally throw one down the alley when you're bowling. Don't U hate it when the ball return doesn't cough up your ball & you have to call the guy over to go retrieve your ball caught at the back of the alley?

I knew a guy with three. It can become quite a strain carrying more than 2 in your bag.
