There are many reasons why people choose atheist. But most of the reasons are personal, emotional and sensitive. I list them out in general

Reason #1: They believe in psychology and science. Psychology and scientific explanation always seems logic and easy to understand.

Reason #2: They don't get the concept of "God Works In Mysterious Way". They always ask, if God loves the world, why does he let the war and famine happen? and the list goes on and on

Reason #3: They've met the bad Christian. When i say bad christian, i mean people who call themselves christian but they showing evil desires. like bad language, drinking wine, immoral sex, back stabbing and stealing etc..
Just like a Buddha monk who eats meat and go clubbing and find women. It makes the people wonder, is this what religious is all about? Coming into the sacred place as a holy men but go out as a sinner wicked men?

Reason #4: This part is very sensitive to some people, so i'll explain it briefly. They hate God and they hate Jesus. They never let holy spirit convict their heart nor obey God's commandment. Enough said.

Reason #5: Walking in the way of Christ means keeping yourself pure & righteousness, never commit evil desires and resisting temptation. Not only for one month, one year, but the whole lifetime. That;s why they gave up, simply because it is too hard to do it.

I hope to God that no one else is typing hateful message in your questions. May God bless us all

I believe atheists choose to be an atheist because they're turned off by the idea of an almighty God entity that sits on a throne and dictates what was, what is, and what will be. They're also probably very turned off by the religious lifestyle of worship and the idea of being judged -- not only by God, but by others in the same religion. For those people, science offers some logical answers to the big question of "how"? But one thing science will never be able to answer is "why?" as in "why is the universe a something instead of a nothing?" I don't believe religion answers that question too much either.
Personally, I'm a pantheist and I'm associated with Bahá'í and The Church of the Subgenius.

After reading the link, it's as it says in the end. It all comes down to personal choice. I was raised atheist and will remain one. I don't feel the need for a god in my life and am completely happy being so, while still living a moral existence.

how a person chooses to practice their faith should be a private experience between that person and their "god" .
I personally do not believe in any form of organized religion but feel very spiritual and have faith in prayer.

I can't think of a good reason to be an atheist. They are losers because they believe in nothing. Nothing is a waste.
