I think that now that they've signed Torii Hunter To legit 5 year deal, I think They might have too many outfielders. Its good to have 4 potential gold glovers on the roster but come on, trade your best infielder (Orlando Cabrera) for a pitcher? I think they would have still survived without Hunter, but they should have gone out a pursued another good future infielder.
DOES ANYONE AGREE WITH ME ON SOME LINES??
(I'm not an Angels fan, I just love sports)

The Source is right. Trading away a solid hitting, solid fielding shortstop like Orlando Cabrera makes no sense unless you are packaging some young arms like Dustin Mosely, Joe Saunders or Jered Weaver for a new bat like Miguel Cabrera and need a front line starter like Jon Garland to fill in. Signing a new centerfielder like Hunter for $90 million is an unneeded luxury unless you plan on getting rid of Matthews or Rivera or as suggested, you have reason to believe that Matthews will face suspension next year. It will be at least another month before all the puzzle pieces take shape and maybe the Angels hired a new GM to get some deals done quickly.

It's betterto have too many good players than not enough.
They have Hunter who's a golden glove centerfield and b/c of him the can play Gary Matthews Jr. in left or right and rotate DH between Garret Anderson and Vladimir Guerrero. And they can use Reggie Willits as trade bait and have Chone Figgins who is a great utilty player at 3rd and center. Well I don't totally agree w/Trading the O-DogGarland is a very good pitcher and will be better w/ a better supporting cast The Angels are set look at this

2006
3B Figgins
SS Cabrera
RF Anderson
DH Anderson
CF Matthews Jr.
1B Erstad
2B Kendrick
LF Willits
C Napoli

2007
3B Figgins
LF Matthews Jr.
RF Guerrero
CF Hunter
DH Anderson
1B Erstad
2B Kendrick
SS Izturis
C Napoli

And check out this rotation
Lackey
Escobar
Garland
Weaver
Saunders/Santana

LA will run away w/the west

I don't think the angels are done yet. I don't really understand the cabrera trade as he is a very good defensive SS. Garland isn't that great and would be at most the 4th starter. I think the angels might try to trade Matthews, or maybe void his contract if the HGH stuff becomes true. Right now they have vlad, hunter, matthews, willits, garret anderson, and rivera in the outfield. anderson and rivera will probably split time at DH and outfield. Angels may trade for miguel tejada from orioles to fill the SS spot or resign former angel david eckstein. they've also been rumored to be trading for miguel cabrera. The angels are still weak at first base and trading for either cabrera or tejada will surely mean trading away hendrick and/or brandon wood, their two best infielders. I agree totally with you and I don't know what the angels are doing but I'm sure they are not done overhauling their roster yet.

Well I am an Angels fan and I do not like the Hunter acquisition unless Moreno really does pony up more money and get an infielder. I like Hunter, but I tend to agree with you on the outfield. Although, Anderson and Vlad are aging.... What that means right now....I'm not sure. Moreno has the cash to supplement the infield, and he needs to. They were also powerless at the plate for most of the season. They do need a BIG bat, because even though Vlad still had great numbers, his HR #'s were not there. As far as John Garland is concerned......we'll see.

I noticed that too and wonder if they see Aybar as coming along quick enough that they can move the underperforming McPherson and Rivera or Anderson. Coach has already said Matthews will be in a rotation situation in the roster, so I think that spells bad news for Anderson who is on the wrong side of his 30's, and Rivera, who is hitting 30 next season and coming off an almost year-long leg injury. I don't see them dropping Willits unless they HAVE to.

Garland gives them a solid 1 through 5 rotation. They obviously aren't done and it will be intersting to see what they do before April.

I still think they are working on getting Miguel from Florida but this is just a hunch. As you can see there is no way they are going to make it to the W.S. without more pop in the lineup and Hunter is a 30 dinger guy who wins gold gloves. This is not a bad a guy to pick up. Matthews has not really been a great hitter during his career and Anderson is getting up there in years so how can this be a bad pick up? It really can't. The Angels are by no means done with dealing this off season. Bet on it!

The trades and acquisitions are just starting and you should really not focus on where they are now but rather when the 2008 season starts. There will be a significant amount of additional player movement ahead.

I think the garland trade was good for both teams.

I think they didn't necessarily need torii, but it is a great acquisition.
