Teen-agers lack the maturity and life experience to make proper decisions about their alcohol intake. This is not to say that there aren't some teen-agers who WOULD be able to handle it, but that is the exception rather than the rule.
Teen-agers are more impulsive than adults and have the "I am gonna live forever" mentality that makes them also take more risks, including driving while intoxicated. That, combined with their over-all lack of driving experience, makes them especially dangerous when driving while under the influence. It is true that a lot of adults drive while intoxicated as well, and cause a lot of accidents, but the statistics show that teen-agers are especially dangerous in these situations. I live in central Illinois and in the past two years around 15 teens have been killed in our area in auto accidents. Most of them involved alcohol.
Plus it really is not good for brains that are not fully developed to be exposed to alcohol.
Unfortunately, a lot of teens will disagree with my arguments and won't realize the truth in them until they are much older. But I guess that is how it is with a lot of things in life. All parents can do is try to talk to their kids and ask their kids to trust the advice they give them until the kids are old enough to legally decide for themselves.

Well teens do drink, laws and rules are guidelines. Society will punish you if you don't follow the guidelines. Two simple thoughts come to mind when answering this question. First that adults need a reward for reaching a certain age. Something to make you have something over the little guy that you can rub in their face. (I will go into more depth after my second answer) Secondly, society feels as though teens don't have the maturity to handle drinking at their immature age. Now, I will explain why it shouldn't matter. Every car should be equipped with a breathalizer. In order to drive the vehicle your body cannot have any alcohol in it, or set to a stage way before the federal legal limit. If you modify or remove this device and get stopped (drunk) then you should be punished. Many adults still get dui's so... its not failsafe. But I think that 18 should be legal for everything. You can choose a president who choses your fate, why not be able to drink? You can go to war...why can't you have a beer?

Adults can drink but teens shouldn't because a lot of teens are not matured yet to understand that drinking is dangerous...

I don't think teens should drink because if they get charged with something while under the influence, THEIR PARENTS get stuck paying the price for their irresponsibility and not the teen.
It's also illegal until one's 21st birthday.
I earn my own money and I drink.
When I got arrested for alcohol related charges, I went before a Judge and I paid my fine and I sat in jail, NOT MY MOMMY
Good luck

Adults are wiser and not as likely to show off by over drinking. Anyway, teenagers are more likely to become intoxicated (not to mention dui, which not only affects them).

I surely have not in any respect had an difficulty with my daughter ingesting AT domicile, below supervision, in a kin putting. meaning 'a pitcher of wine with dinner' or 'a cocktail contained in the nighttime' or wine use for religious applications. (we are Jewish.) Now, she would not like alcohol, so she would not drink in any respect, both at domicile with us, or at activities. (She is now 21, and nonetheless would not drink in any respect. Even in religious settings she requests grape juice.) the problem along with your state of affairs is that youngster ingesting in a celebration putting is unlike maximum grownup social ingesting. it truly is 'ingesting to get below the impression of alcohol.' ideally as quick as a chance. it truly isn't any longer about 'determining limits' yet about 'reaching the optimal a chance state of intoxication' with the purely 'reduce' being vomiting, passing out, or lack of life. even if in severe college or in college, children ingesting = binge ingesting. (And in both severe college and college, no longer actually everyone beverages. you are able to surely visit varsity and not in any respect drink alcohol .. and performance a staggering time.)

Teens are still developing and I'm half-sure drinking alcohol will screw 'em over.
More likely to get addicted when you're younger too.
Or is that smoking?
