Two main reasons. Firstly, being above the atmosphere it avoids the problems of turbulent air, pollution and cloud, resulting in much better definition and resolution. Secondly, they avoid the inherent limitation of ground based telescopes that everything in the sky eventually sets below the horizon, thus limiting the time you can spend looking at it. The Hubble telescope can be pointed at one area of space for hours or even days, which is how images such as the Ultra Deep Field were collected. The objects in that image are so faint that many days of exposure was required to produce the image.

Light is bent when it travels through transparent substances of different densities. Notice how light bends when looking through thick glass, or how the bottom of a pool looks shallower than it really is? The atmosphere also bends light that comes from space. The real problem is the constantly shifting densities in air caused by turbulant air flows which scatters light and makes stars appear to twinkle. These effects blur objects in space when looked at with high magnification. Putting a telescope in space fixes that problem.

clever AZ is powerful. No way you observed an xo planet. the area based telescopes that are certainly finding for xo planets are monitoring version interior the intensity of sunshine coming from stars. while they come across a famous guy or woman whose mild intensity reduces for a volume of time and then has the comparable help for the comparable volume of time in a repeating cycle, then we can be fantastically confident that the dimming of the famous guy or woman is as a results of the transit of a planet. i do no longer understand if there is any telescope in existance which could see an xo planet immediately. we can get education with regard to the ambience of an xo planet (a minimum of specially situations) using fact the sunshine from the famous guy or woman "consists of" education with regard to the chemical composition of the famous guy or woman and, if circumstances are in basic terms precise, this education is changed as that famous guy or woman's mild is refracted via the skinny layer of ecosystem around the planet.
