Dalhousie.

The place can be reached easily. There are plentiful accomodation options. A nice tibetan goods market for some shopping. Food is the only problematic thing. ( I mean the food is working one - you won't get any 5star treatments here). You can visit most of the tourist spots in the town just by walking. Nice to spend your time, particularly with loved ones.

To reach : nearest rail head is Pathankot. From there you need to travel by road. Buses start from Pathankot bus stand ( crowded always) or you can easily book a private car near the bus stand.

Nearby, CHAMBA is a town worth spending some of your time. About an hour drive from Dalhousie, there are several ancient temples, a museum, river RAVI / BEAS, chaugan et al are worth spending time.

If you are going: happy journey.

Gangotri, the source of the Ganghes. it is quite secure in case you are able to handle glaciers, severe winds and a few ascetic priests, saints and holy adult males who stay in that area all twelve months around. nonetheless safer, cleanser and quieter than Benares or Calcutta, and you do not have 0.5 the beggars esp. in December. So in case you freeze to loss of lifestyles on the source, I heard from one Hindu, all the sins of ALL lives are forgiven, in comparison to easily bathing in the Ganghes river at Benares the place the sins of basically your modern lifestyles are forgiven. good deal! pay attention for falling rocks and avalanches!
