I agree 100% that Troy should have won ROY.........i'm still a little ticked off about that..........but I disagree when you say that Matt should have won VP b/c Jimmy had a great season........stats wise in individual categories, matt had better ones but jimmy had a great season too becoming only the fourth player to have a 20-20-20-20 season and he went above and beyond just that stat, he broke the all time at bat record and had only 11 errors on the season at the very difficult possition of SS. Not to mention that Holliday plays at a very hitter friendly field like Coors Field.........that is why Jimmy won

Jimmy Rollins held together a team that had MVP Ryan Howard start out the season playing like Travis Lee and Pat Burrell playing like he was trying to mess up. Chase Utley got hurt late in the year and he held the team together. This is a Phils team that started the season with 6 starting pitchers 5 of which saw time on the DL.Throughout all of this Jimmy was consistant and led this team. He said they were the team to beat before the season started and he backed up his mouth with results on the field even through the tough stretches this team had. True the Mets collapsed but the Phils still had to win those games. And saying something like that in Philadelphia? Then backing it up? Amazing. Dare I say MVP-Like?
Saying Holiday blows Jimmy away in stats doesn't prove much considering Jimmy is a lead off hitter and is protected by NOBODY. And Rollins became only the 4th player in MLB HISTORY to go 20-20-20-20.....
More then 20 Doubles
More then 20 Triples
More then 20 Homeruns
More then 20 Stolen Bases
MVP ?? I think so.

Yeah, this strikes me as homerism. I think both guys you brought up had great seasons and they are definite up and comers, but i have a problem with your logic. You bring up Brauns defensive stats as part of a reason he shouldn't have won ROY but then fail to mention that Rollins was a gold glove winner at the hardest position in baseball, played every game, AND he put up unbelievable stats. Holliday put up amazing stats as well but he is just a decent fielder. Rollins excelled in all parts of the game. Tulu definitely has a tougher arguement here for me than Holliday, but offensive stats always trump defensive skill when it comes to ROY and thats the way it always will be.

i agree that holliday should have won the MVP but you can't go by the fact that he helped lead the rockies to the world series. votes for the MVP are placed the day after the season is over so the voters didn't know that the rockies would win the world series. at the time of the votes, the voters felt that the rockies would be destroyed in the first round and didn't desrve any awards.

Matt Holiday should have taken home the MVP award no question. He was the Rockies where as Rollins had a supporting cast even though they weren't all healthy all the time. However, you can't take the Rookie of the Year award away from Braun. He put up disgusting offensive numbers and offense is what fans look at in baseball. Rollins just had the gold glove to back up his stick. Dems the breaks...

Braun had such an astronomically good rookie year offensively that any defensive edge that Tulowitzki had, no matter how big, is completely negated.
I agree that Holliday should have been MVP, but it's interesting that you point out stats in Holliday's favor, yet you ignore the fact that, projected over the course of a full season, Braun had MUCH better numbers than Tulowitzki.
He had a major league rookie record .634 slugging pct. That's higher than guys named Pujols, McGwire, even Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio.

the rockies were nearly unheard of until september. nobody other than fans watched them until their playoff run
the phils had several allstars and a bright team and they kept coming close to the mets but then failing. everyone had their eye on them.
and playing in coors field, the most hitter friendly field in the major leagues, hollidays stats were very inflated compared to an average park and the voters were well aware of that. they also knew that the postseason does not count

cause they choked....rollins stole bases and kept his team alive during their cshaky startand without utley...mvp is one man by himself not the team. Rockies are a team not ONE INDIVIDUAL doing all the work. holliday got a lot of help from hawpe tulu and every1.

Yes, you see, no member of the rockies except matt holliday deserved an award. Holliday was cheated.
Didn't he win a silver slugger or something?

While you make good arguments for the Rockies, please remember these awards are based on the regular season only. While Holliday would have been my choice for MVP, Rollins is a arguable choice.
