If the toner is falling out when you shake the cartridge, either you are shaking it too hard, accidently opening the door, or the cartridge is defective.

I would advise you as the previous person stated - replace it. Defective cartridges can damage the printer and the toner will be going into the air you breath - not healthy.

The proper way to shake a toner cartridge is to hold it by the ends which slide into the groves on either sider of the toner cavity. Make you do not open the door (it is held closed with a spring and opens when you place it into the printer properly.)

Rock it gently end to end at about 45 degres.

Rock it gently rolling action it towards you and away from you.

Check the cavity where the cartridge seats. If there is any toner lying in there, clean it out - caution - wear a dust mask as toner should not be inhaled.

Good Luck.

You are most likely running out of toner. If you go to the store to get new toner cartridges, you're in for a surprise, it is very expensive...

If you want to save on Printer Ink, your best bet is to go with Remanufactured / Refurbished cartridges.

InkjetsDiscounts ( http://inkjetsdiscounts.com ) have a good list of retailers that offer good service, products, and close to 90% savings compared to original cartridges.

You're running low on toner. The problem will clear up once you've replaced your cartridge.
