It tells you that he's the last person, and does good to keep what happened secret, but what kind of virus is it? Like a dawn of the dead virus, or a 28 weeks later virus? Or a 'I'll just have to watch and see virus"?

According to the book, there is a virus that causes people to die in the sunlight. They only come out after dark. Neville calls them Vampires. Neville is immune.

I am Legend is based on the Omega Man movie with Charelton Heston from the 1970's. It holds true in that the main charcater is a memeber of the military and a Doctor. The Virus is man made by the military and just as all hell breaks loose the main character manages to inoculate himself as the rest of the world dies. If the remake holds true he is the last "human survivor" of the holocaust but there are beings, less human, populating the streets who can only come out at night. They are light sensative to the point that sunlight actually hurts them. Beyond that I do not know how vampire like they are but they do have some intelligence. Check out.

A virus break loose world wide...killing almost everyone...except Smiths charatcer...he is immume...but he finds out that not ALL the humans died...the virus mutated them,now they roam the streets at night looking for food..HIM...the side affects of the virus are vampire like,the sun light hurts them..garlic..etc.Now he must try to find a cure before they can kill him.
