Here's the situation.
Tomorrow's black friday and i need to decide between:

EPSON all-in-one printer ($24.99)
- Print speeds up to 24 ppm* in black and 12 ppm* in color
- 5760 x 1440 optimized dpi resolution

OR

HP all-in-one printer ($34)
-ink cost is low ink (black: $14.95, color: $17.95)
-print speed: 11ppm

Ive heard a lot of bad things about Epsons and im not sure about the whole 4 cartridges (are they expensive)?

Im not so crazy about the speed on HP either, but ive had a regular compaq printer IJ600 since '97 & its time for an update.

all suggestions are appreciated. thanks!

HP is used by most business because it is nicknamed the workhorse of printers.

Use what the businesses use. It is always safer.

Guess which one I use. The all in one.

I recommend the Epson. The total cost of ownership is the same with the HP: ink cartridges cost the same, initial purchase price is the same.

You'll notice the big difference in your graphics printing. When it comes to graphics/photography, HPs just don't stack up against the Epsons. Epson is used by graphics professionals for that very reason.

Additionally, Epson uses dye-based ink instead of water based ink like HPs. Lightly wet your finger and run it across an inkject print by HP and it will smear horribly. Not so with Epsons.

The Epson will also print onto an inkject printable disc, too. The HP doesn't.

I've used both types of printers before...and always come back to Epsons.

I have had very good luck with HP ink, even sitting idle over months it doesn't seem to dry out. I recommend that you steer clear of Epson!! I had HUGE problems with an Epson Stylus Photo printer... apparently because we didn't use it for a while, the ink dried out... but not within the cartridge, somewhere within the works of the printer. They're designed differently than, say an HP and one of the guys at Staples says that Epson is known for ink problems because of it. This printer is next to useless now unless we can get it cleaned somewhere.

I've never really used an epson printer before, but I do use HP (printers and other hardware) and I love HP, I would strongly suggest HP although like I said, never really used epson....

I like HP better....I just trust the brand. Before you buy, find out what kind of catridges it takes and go price them. Get the one with cheaper cartridges so you don't have to sell a body part every time you need a refill.

From my personal experience, both of all-in-one printer are user friendly, stylish and efficient. However, if you choose EPSON, you will face problems like over heated, not working properly for longer use and sometimes it's difficult to find ink.

I absolutely hate HP and I had a printer from them recently and it worked about 10 times and quit. I waited too long and passed my warranty and they refused to do anything about it.

I'm not a fan of anything HP....EXCEPT their printers. They do really well in that category. I have 3, never had a bit of trouble out of any of them. one is 11 years old, one is 7 years old, other is 2 years old.
