As long as you are 18 or older, if it is unloaded, nothing. If it is loaded you will get a ticket and have to pay a $70 fine and you might lose the gun.
§21-1289.13A. Improper transportation of firearm - Fine and court costs - Confiscation of firearm.
A. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 1272 or 1289.13 of this title, any person stopped pursuant to a moving traffic violation who is transporting a loaded pistol in the motor vehicle without a valid concealed handgun permit authorized by the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act or valid license from another state, whether the loaded firearm is concealed or open in the vehicle, shall be issued a traffic citation in the amount of Seventy Dollars ($70.00), plus court costs for transporting a firearm improperly. In addition to the traffic citation provided in this section, the person may also be arrested for any other violation of law.

Not sure what the gun laws are like in Oklahoma, but here in Jersey you'd be arrested for unlawful possesion of a firearm and also the underage possession.
If you didn't tell the officer that the weapon is in the car and he finds it you will get in even more trouble. A cops number one fear is being gunned down on duty. So if they find out you had a firearm and you didn't tell them about it they just get very very angry.
If you absolutely have to carry it illegally put the upper receiver in the glove box and the lower receiver in your trunk and take all the bullets out of the clip and store them in a separate container.
Best advice is turn the damn thing into a police station and get some money for it (turn it taken apart) and if you really want one wait till you turn 21 and apply for a carrying permit. Otherwise you're just stupid...

I dont know the laws of your state hun but as far as I understood the police would need to have a reason to search your car.
If you have a handgun in your car then it is a concealed weapon and if it is not licensed to you then I am not sure how that would be handled having it IN YOUR CAR, might still hold all of the penalties just for you.
I believe in the NRA. I feel that you have a right to defend yourself, but be clear that police are now tazering everything in sight. One cop tazered a guy because he wouldnt sign a speeding ticket. It killed the guy. Sad but true. I hope your gun was not involved in any crimes in the past. Take Care.-Rachel.

You have to be 21 to have a handgun in your state? How lame. I think it depends on whether it's concealed or not, and whether or not you have a conceal permit. If you're honest they might just take it away from you, provided you aren't doing anything else stupid or have any other contraband in your car. You should focus on carrying weapons legally.

Details, details, details! What are you being pulled over for, failure to signal a turn or heaving empty beer bottles out the window? Where's the gun, in the trunk or in your lap? Is it loaded? Are YOU loaded? It all depends on the details of the situation.

worst scenario is young cop gets excited and shoots you to death.
the politicos and cops are terrified of the masses being armed and have quietly changed everything in america year by year.
they never dared tell exactly what they were up to. the "evil" national rifle assoc. tried to tell people but they didn't listen.
get the gun out of your car and hide it where an ordinary search would fail. you are living in a virtual police state. what was once science fiction is real. know it, accept it, live it.
zeig heil to the glorious leaders.

You'll find out first hand what the barrel of a Glock 31 feels like, before you are arrested for possesion of a firearm. How much time you spend in jail will be up to the judge.
