Hi,

I live in NYC and it's currently Nov., yet I still see a mosquito in my apt. every now and then. I don't have any standing water nor am I near a storm drain, and the gutter is nowhere near me. What else can I do? I'm currently hanging garlic next to my bed. Thanks so much for the help.

Best,
Katlin

Thanks everyone, you guys were all really helpful. There was a small hole in my radiator which was where they were coming from. I saw one come out of there the other day and was lucky enough to kill it.

I will have to try the cow pats out though ... :)

Doors and windows should be closed just before sunset, to prevent mosquitoes from entering the house. All gaps in the windows should be sealed tightly. Enter your house early and avoid opening doors after the sun sets, as mosquitoes will swarm into the house.

Very adaptable insects. Its cold outside, but 70 degrees indoors. If they find standing water anywhere in your building they have a home, It could be a cracked sewer line in the basement, a vacant apartment with standing water in the toilet or sink. There are lots of possibilities.
One you may not have thought of, are you sure its a mosquito?

Put a mosquito net around you while sleeping. It is better than mosquito repellants.
