Gastrology means "the study of the gastro tract." Don't quite know what you mean.
If you mean a colonoscopy, that's were the use a long fiber optic cable and check your insides out.
They can be painful, but they are short - lasts only about 5 minutes.

I had to have one this year to and it's no pain at all. They give you an iv and then you get some medicine and feel really good and then, boom, you wake up and it's done and the nurses are checking your blood pressure and stuff. The worst part was the prep kit you've got to do before the test.It gives you really severe diarehhia but they need to have all of your feces(or poop)out of your bowels to do the test.I know your scared but trust me it's nothing, you just have a nap and then you sstay for awhile so they can watch you and they'll get you something to eat after too.Good luck

I've never had one myself but from patient feedback the worst part is the stuff you have to drink the night before to clean out your colon. You're sedated for the actual procedure so you won't feel much discomfort if any during it. You may feel some discomfort afterwards but it will diminish within the day. Trust me, it seems a lot scarier than it really is and afterwards you'll think "that was nothing!"

You might feel slight pain but it is a worthwhile test for internal investigation. It certainly will not last long.
