I am invited to a sleepover tomorrow night. Today was the first day of my period and I am afraid of bleeding on my friend's bed. I am really looking forward to this but the entire time I will be worried about it.

Advice please?

IF YOU SLEEP MORE THAN 7 1/2 HOURS OR SO DON'T WEAR A TAMPON OVERNIGHT!!
Obviously ppl don't READ the sides of those boxes. They say to NEVER leave a tampon in for more than 8 hours and to NEVER sleep in one because you can get toxic shock syndrome!

Definition: a rapidly developing, sometimes fatal infection characterized by sudden onset of fever, gastrointestinal upsets, a sunburnlike rash, and a drop in blood pressure: caused by a Staphylococcus aureus toxin and occurring esp. in menstruating women using high-absorbency tampons. Abbreviation: TSS

(That's taken from dictionary.com btw)

But if you are planning on changing that tampon at soem point during teh night or not sleeping for a full 8 hours than I really don't see why it would eb any different than wearing one for that long and not sleeping.

Basically just get those heavy duty long pads with wings. You can even overlap pads to cover a longer area.
Wear some thick materialed pajama bottoms or some silky-textured ones because the thick ones will absorb better and then silky ones would resist the moisture and be harder to seep through.
Bring your one blankets and just say that you prefer ones your used to. Bring a sleeping bag if you have one.
All working ideas.

You can buy extra long pads. Sometimes they are called "overnights". If you usually bleed down the back, place the longer pad so it goes up the back of your panties.

Wear cotton panties and dark sweats. If you do have a bit of a leak, chances are it won't make it past your clothing

It depends if you use tampons or pads. If you use tampons, use the super absorbant kind along with a maxi-pad. You can also overlap two pads---one towards the front and the other towards the back---This will give you plenty of protection.

Use tampons because they are inside you and it won't leak out. If you need some more help the best person to ask is your mom. Good luck!! My friend slept over with me on her period and she wasn't on her period but she just carried a couple of Tampons with her. She says Playtex Gentle Glide really help you sleep better on your period because they move when your body does.

You don't say if you wear tampons or pad. But you could use both or buy overnight pads or use two pads side by side. Don't know how comfortable you are with this but you could also put a folded towel under you.

Extra long pad, and very tight undies to hold it in place. Make sure that you make a fresh change right before bed, and sleep on your side. :)
P.S Tampons can cause serious problems if you wear them fo too many hours. Be careful if you go that route.
