Hi well my school is holding a play for grades 5-8 and the play is Pinnochio. For the lead roles you have to sing like 30 seconds of any song for the auditions. My audition is on this monday. What are some good audition songs that would show off my vocal ability?
Can you give me some tips for singing better?
What qualities do a good performer have?

Thanks this would be a big help!! :)

The best idea is to use Disney songs because the musical is of course disney.
Depending on your range try:
Once Upon a Dream-Sleeping Beauty
Home-Beauty and the Beast (from the musical not the movie)
Won't Say I'm in Love-Hercules
Some Day my Prince Will Come- Snow white
A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes- Cinderella
The Second Star to the Right- Peter Pan
Perfect Isn't Easy- Oliver and Company
Kiss the Girl- Little Mermaid
Part of Your World- Little Mermaid
A Whole New World- Aladdin
Colors of the Wind- Pocahontas

Or try songs from these musicals which are the same genre:
-Oliver
-Les Miserables
-Jesus Christ Super Star
-Aida
-Evita
-Little Shop of Horrors

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR AUDITION!

As great of a song as that is, it really doesn't relate at all to Pinocchio. What character would you be auditioning for? If Pinocchio (often played by a girl) I think Peter Pan songs would be good. Think of a parallel character in another show, and of course Disney is very appropriate, who is similar to the one you are auditioning for and sing their song. If you want the Fox, maybe There's a Sucker Born Ev'ry Minute from Barnum or Poor Unfortunate Souls from Little Mermaid... Keep in mind we don't know your vocal range which of course is important. You can of course transpose the music, but if there's no time or if the accompanist can't do it on sight then you should choose a piece that's in your range in it's original key.

good luck,
Marianne

sing a song that has a lot of acting and attitude in it. And it depends on the role you want. For example if you wanted a role that is very sweet and big than when you try out act sweet and pretend thats the only role you are able to do.

God help the outcasts
Colors of the wind
Nothing
Be kind to your parents
New world

Best of luck- Danielle

Well choose a song that relates to the play. For my auditions i do "Its a Hard Knock Life" from Annie or another song from a play and i ALWAYS and i mean ALWAYS get in. Choose a song from a musical that isn't to high or too low for u. Sing from your diaphram not ur breath and stand up straight. It helps, alot!
