Janie,
I know it is not popular to state this, thanks in large part to the miserable media that we have, but the 'war on terror' started many years ago and only recently (9-11-2001) did it land on our nose in such a way that we could no longer ignore it as a country. The reason this war is going on (seeming perhaps to you, forever,) is that this is not a war directed toward a nationality, a race or people but toward a belief system that knows only that it will win or die. It is a war of many fronts and many methods. This will not be accomplished solely through military means and that is why it is such a long effort.
It is a 'War on Terror', but also a war of ideas and principles. Those pushing this agenda will kill you if you do not surrender to them. Can you imagine a way of life that punishes a young woman for being gang raped by seven men by giving her 200 lashes? This is in the news now, as if it were something new. It is not. These people have lived liked this for centuries. You may still find the beheading movies circulating on the internet, if you can stomach seeing them. Remember, Janie, that these people are serious, and have declared war on you.
There are times if you do not defend your homes, your family, your life (or way of life), you lose all of it. If you have ever opened a history book, you will see that civilizations can fall, even superior cultures have been buried by barbarians. The world has gone through a horrific dark age already, I don't want my children to see another. We must endure until the hate is extinguished. The United Nations will not save you.

If we do not end terrorism, it will end us. I Support our troops and an end to the horror that caused 9/11 and other embassy bombings.
The United Nations has some countries in it that support terrorism. Of course the UN will does not want the war on terror to contine.
By the way, at the last count, 23 countries, including France, United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, and many others are giving help, troops, or advisors to end the war on terror.
I support the right of people to live in freedom, and the right to live unharmed. That is why I support the war on terror.
My nephew has been injured, and still fights in Iraq for those people to be free from terrorists and HE still believes in what he is doing.

Because America has REAL enemies! Terrorist extremist groups like Bin Laden's ARE a threat! As are the nations that give them aid & comfort. In regards to the UN, there a bloody joke! I can't believe we allow such an anit-Amercia orginization here. They need to be kicked out of the country!

>You are confusing the "War on Terror" with the Iraq war.
Fighting terrorists was forced on us and should have been pursued like a proper war...fought with all possible power to a swift completion. Instead the U.S., unfortunately, got into another grenade fight armed only with a powder puff.
The Iraq war, however, is just an exercise in greed and extreme stupidity by corrupt politicians.<

First you are wrong about the UN voting against this war. The war was started due to the violations of the UN demands on Iraq. Secondly since when does any country in this world need the permission of the UN to start a war. Finally what rules were violated and how do they protect us all and who enforces such rules? The UN. I think not.

The battle against terror is best fought on their soil, not ours.
We did not start this. It began, in the USA, when they sent planes into the Twin Towers killing over 3,000 innocent people.
Why don't you ask your question of Osama Bin Laden and AlQueda. What do you think they would say?

True to that but think about those FIGHTING the war and those they left behind to do what it is they are do? YOu think they would give up a chance to put what they've learned in Boot camp and training just because we think that the war is a crime against humanity. Would you rather wield your own M4 or M16 (depending your branch) or just be stationed some place just to do nothing. Im a strong believer when it comes down to the fact that Bush did knock down the towers but I also have a bro serving this country, its kind of hard.

Because we are all permitted to have our own opinion.
That is democracy.
You disagree with the war, others agree with the war.
I personally think it has all got out-of -hand & the initial reasons for going there have changed....a lot!
This world will never have peace & there will always be opposing opinions on politics, that's why we have elections in democratic countries.
