foolish ministers do a lot of harm when they speak without compassion?
When I was hospitalized after I lost my baby back in the '90s, a minister came to cheer me up and the first thing he told me was that we are all born in sin. I couldn't believe someone would say that to a grieving mother who had just lost a child. I don't believe in Hell, but if he does, he's welcome to go.
Reply : I am touched deeply by what you have just said. It is bad enough that ministers say things like things like that to their congregations, but when they have no more sense than to say that to a grieving woman, they are despicable creatures

what a callous 'man of the cloth'. But unfortunately, part of being religious is basking in a certain disdain for humanity, believing that we are all broken and wicked. I hope the lady told him to get the hell away.

After such a terrible loss, I can't blame you for being upset at this man's remarks. This is something a clergy person ought to be aware of, but they are only human and some of them aren't very sensitive. They may have other valuable qualities in spite of their insensitivity, but when you are grieving deeply you don't even want to think about that! I know, I've been there.
Just take your comfort and consolation where you can get it, and let the rest go. He couldn't help you (I expect he would have liked to, but didn't know how.)

Because these so-called ministers have missed completely the message that Jesus brought to this planet and its human inhabitants. They dwell too much on parsing the words of the New Testament when all of those books, except for the epistles, were not put down on paper until several decades after Jesus' death. Here's the message:
"You are loved. You are forgiven. You are saved".
