Rumor has it he may go to Boston for Jacoby Ellsbury, Jon Lester, and a few prospects. Is this a good deal for the Twins?

Too good for the Twins. Santana has one year left on his contract. Lester, Ellsbury and Bucholz all have several years at league minimum. Maybe if the Twins let the Red Sox negotiate a deal with Santana before pulling the trigger, but I can't see Theo giving up 3 or 4 years of future for one year. That is the kind of deal that takes place on July 31st. The Yankees would be desperate for pitching and could pay Santana the $120 million (really) that he wants. That would probably mean that the Twins would want the likes of Cabrera and Hughes or Kennedy and the Yankees would not do that. Most likely the other teams will have the sense to know that Santana will be a free agent in 11 1/2 months and to just sit tight until then.

If he did do it then he's a extensive fool. he's a action picture star in the MLB, makes a ton of money and has a kin. i in my opinion desire that that's a pretend tale because of the fact I consistently assumed Johan grew to become right into a gentle mannered form of guy.

As a Twins fan I would like to see him here in Minnesota. But he is going to get between 20-25 mil a year( Zito gets 18mil per so dont tell me he wont) and everyone knows the Twins cant afford that. I see him going to the Mets or Dodgers, I know the Dodgers got some youth and a top notch young lefty and the loot to pay K(j)ohan.

I don't think so. I believe the Twins will do everything they can to sign Santana. He is not a free agent until after the 2008 season and what kind of a message would the Twins be sending to their fans if both Hunter and Santana are gone?

Horrible deal for the Twins.... why give up the best pitcher in baseball for a bunch of unproven slackers. Hope this isn't true....if so, Boston sure pulled the wool over Minnesota's eyes.

No, johan is on the market, they offered him a deal and he said no then counter offered and they couldn't come to an agreement so he is on the market, I am a HUGE NYY fan and we are aggressively looking at him and trying to make something work, Boston has no interests in trading Jacoby els.

I want Johan more then anything even more than that 10 yr 275 mill. contract for arod

yes it is very good for the Twins I don't think the Red Sox would ever do that though...besides what do they need Santana for I think they have one of the best rotations in baseball already.
