IVE HEARD THAT BOILING REAL VANILLA EXTRACT ON THE STOVE WITH A LITTLE WATER ADDED WILL HELP. CHECK THE INTERNET SEARCH TOO THOUGH !!!! IT MAY TAKE NUMEROUSBOILINGS OR WHATEVER METHOD YOU CHOOSE. YOUR BOYFRIEND MAY HAVE TO LEAVE HIS WORK CLOTHES OUTSIDE CAUSE THEY WILL HAVE A TERRIBLE NICOTINE ODOR.

Couple of things to do --- the vinegar idea in the article below does work, I've tried it. I'd also rent a carpet cleaner -- febreze the heck out of the curtains and try lighting some candles -- this seems to help remove the smoke from the air. If the vinegar idea makes you feel nauseous, there are also some good odor absorbers (small round containers at Wal-Mart) that seems to work on smoke odors. Doesn't work overnight but try the candles and the carpet cleaners and if you can afford it take the drapes to a dry cleaner or wash them and then febreze them.
Congratulations on the baby and congrats on stopping smoking!

I quit a few months ago. An Ecoquest FreshAir Purifier will remove all odors permanently, not cover them up like the other suggestions. An EcoBox is about half the price, and will work if the space isn't too big. The odors will be gone in 4 or 5 days. Read FeBreeze carefully before using. Not too good for your health.

When we moved into our new house the previous owners were heavy smokers AND had pets.. So, I went to the wholesale club and purchased about 12 lbs. of baking soda. It's completely harmless to people/pets and it's cheap it cost about $5 I sprinkled the carpets and furniture with BS and let it sit overnight... I vacuumed like MAD for acouple hours... You might have to change your vacuum filter but, it DOES work... Also, wash your curtains if you can gentle cycle woolite w/ baking soda added to the wash water... Depending on the type of sofa you have you may be able to launder the covers.. Check to see if the cushions have zippers if they do you can remove the covers.... Wash gentle cycle with Woolite/BS and either hang to dry OR put on air tumble and put back on sofa while the covers are a touch damp.. That will also remove any smoke smell.... Good luck

We got most of the smell out of my sister in law's apt. while she was in the hospital for 3 months, with Fabreze. We sprayed it every day, and aired it out. Had the smell almost gone, she came home and smoked in it the same day. If you paint, wash the walls first, and use paint that has Kilz in it. Walmart carries it. Clean your carpets, wash your curtains and use fabreze on your furniture. You are doing a good thing, by quitting before the baby comes. Good for you!!

Hire professional cleaners who know what chemicals to use to remove harsh odors. Have your curtains dry cleaned, too. If all else fails, you may have to replace the carpeting.
