I think Sedona is gorgeous...I would love to be proposed to there. You could take an exclusive jeep tour, have them stop somewhere so you could have an intimate picnic and propose there. I think that Sedona is a lot more intimate than the Grand Canyon. Good luck, I hope she says yes!

Sedona. The Grand Canyon would be a nice background, but it's not as romantic. In Sedona you could get a nice hotel and make a trip out of it.

Sedona sux and may very well be be one of the most over-rated places in the US. Go to the Canyon instead. When were you planning on doing this and is your girfriend into doing a couple of hours of hiking below Rim at GCNP 'cause I know of many secluded yet spectacular places that you could ask her
Edit :
Geez Bandit
I'm having enough trouble convincing this guy to ignore the ( yuck )Sedona crazies and you bring up Monument Valley which is gonna confuse him even more and force him to make the wrong choice which would be (yuck ) Sedona
Proposing guy
Book a room at the El Tovar Hotel on the S.Rim
However my first choice would be the cabins at the Bright Angel Lodge with the fireplaces in them
The cabins are literally less than 50 yards from the Rim, but those cn be hard to come by. Still.....
Get in touch w/Xanterra for reservations for GCNP lodging
Place :Try Hopi Point out on West Rim Drive at sunset As long as you are going to be talking about eternity you may as well be looking at it.

i would go with Sedona in a secluded spot because the Grand Canyon is filled with tourist and not many secluded spots unless you really have no problem with other people there than go with the Grand Canyon at sunset

I like Sedona. When my husband came to visit me in Arizona before we were married, we went to a picturesque romantic bed and breakfast there. Everything is quaint. And the scenery is magnificent. If you want romance, peace, and quiet, that is where to go.
