Chi, awesome response---haven't seen you in a while!
Richard my gosh the questions are coming fast and furious! I don't have to watch TV to know that the War on the Middle Class is a resounding success...all I have to do is look around at my hometown of Flint, Michigan. General Motors was built on the backs of the hard-working people of this once-great city; NAFTA and those so-called "right-to-work" states (re: "right to work for slave wages") came along, and everything went "poof".
To the uninformed out there, manufacturing IS the Middle Class. When manufacturing shuts down its last factories here, we can all start waving bye-bye to decent wages and benefits.
My county once had the highest per-capita income in the country; now my state has the highest unemployment in the nation. That old saying still rings true---"How goes GM, goes the country". All of you people out there buying non-American and non-union, beware---you may have a job today, but who is going to be left to partake of the services you offer tomorrow? Believe you me, YOUR job is next.

Yes! We are a dwindling class as we post. Unlike some on here, who assume that the Democrats want this to happen, they are probably middle class who can't seems to realize that it isn't the Democrats that are doing this to them, it is the true rulers of this country, big business, the wealthy, who make money no matter where the jobs are sent, & our government that makes no effort to control what is happening in our country. I could go on & on, I have a tendency to do that but, what good would it do, those who do not see will never see until it happens to them.

It appears so. One would think that hard work and sound investments would propel the middle class worker upwards. Instead, the elite simply increase the speed of the treadmill.
Millions of US jobs have been outsourced. The trade deficit has broken new records, and CEO's pay has increased 600% versus average Americans. Middle class has become a dead end position in life. In the past, middle class income earners could propel their offspring into the executive field.

Not until the egregious tax cuts for the wealthiest 1% are repealed and health care is universal to name only a few. The most important savings to the middle class would be to end the Iraq war. So far, every US family owes over $20,000 to cover its cost. Guess the middle class will be paying for these mistakes for a long time.

If you are a leftist it may be so. The middle class is under attack by the left. If the middle class can be moved to the "poor" it will be a big political boost for the Democrats. This is why they try to create as much poverty as they can. If we ever get to the point than very few people feel they are poor we will be done with democrat politics.

Maryland certainly is, they just raised EVERY tax (sales, gasoline, cigarettes, alcohol, property, auto registration, tax on car trades and income tax). Take that middle class!

Apparently so. Pretty soon we're all going to be poor and the rich will pay taxes while the rest of us fight over food stamps.
