NO....they have huge oil reserves, and free markets and a booming economy, if he can keep the lid on and steer it the right direction Russia will be the next Great Power, but tight economic controls must first take place to build a middle class, and stop the oligarchs from pillaging the country.

Of course he does, just like the people that want to do things like Jefferson did. The problem is that the Russians of today still remember the old days, it will not happen. Remember Putin was a KGB colonel probably more powerful then he is as president of the country.

I think America is giving him reason to think he should.

We weren't a threat to them before Iraq... but I believe they had some under the table oil deals with the Middle East, that we disrupted...

OF COURSE he's a little sour... we're making it harder for him to successfully run his country.

No,he tries to retain some of the positive strenths of the USSR, to balance the US, but he is much too much privatisation oriented
