The book and movie differ slightly. The only things that movie shows his receiving for Christmas were:
His father's invisibility cloak from Dumbledore (both book and movie)
A sweater from Ron's mom (both book and movie)
In the book he also received:
A book from Hermione
Used socks from the Dursleys
A carved wooden flute from Hagrid (which he would later use to make Fluffy the 3 headed dog fall asleep, unlike the harp used in the movie)

The flaw in the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is that it is sincerely a Philosophers stone. Americans are too dense to realize that suggestion, so they name is so. And while happening about women dorms, they have been with Hermione, that's how they were competent to move up. Similar to they were in a position to enter the girls rest room along with her.
