A question invites a response. However, here as in real life, a good faith response so often results in a personal attack upon the solicited responder.

This is a good question and I wish I had the answer. I have noticed a lot of impolite answers and I see no reason for this. Just pass the question up if you have nothing to offer is my advice to the people doing this.

Yes. Don't get baited like I was yesterday. You are right, a question, on any subject, invites a response. However, there are some who can't tell the difference. What can you do? I'm just passing over a lot of questions now. Unless, I know the person, and they have been on the site long enough to trust them.

It is difficult only for those who tend to be less considerate and understanding of the differences inherent in people. The responders on the Religion and Spiritual section of YA are some of the most denigrating on this site. There is much ado about nothing in that particular section...too many thumbs up and down used to negate responses, and much errant violation reporting.

Unfortunately, a lot of people in our society today do not have the stomach for the truth. They either are young and inexperienced with real life issues, or they have been so indoctrinated with one side of a particular topic that when someone responds honestly and intelligently, they get "mud thrown in their faces".

You are so right, Rose! But I think that many people just do not know HOW TO RESPOND, without throwing mud, so to speak!
I think too, that many lack the ability to REASON - and this can once again, cause a personal attack on the responder! However, brighter sparks, such as you and me, should learn to accept those with lesser mental agilities! Hope this helps! It is very frustrating I know - - - but that's life in the fast lane. CJ

Some people are just rude. It's not all that hard to answer questions with courtesy. Personal attacks are against the rules of YA so block them or report them.

It's a wicked night and there's alot of that "killl the messenger" going on. I got off P&S with the juveniles making havoc over there and it's not much better here tonight.

Someone who reluctantly conveys a message because it is their job or their duty is entirely different from one who volunteers to share information for reasons of their own. Very often the latter have less than noble intentions.

Because they know what they are hearing is the truth and as Jack Nicholson said....you can't handle the truth....so they need someone to backlash at so they don't have to take responsibility.
