That's character actor Max Schreck from 1922's Nosteraftu.
Trivia: 'Max Shreck' was Christopher Walken's name in 'Batman Returns'. The connection would be 'bats' & 'vampires'...lol ;P
More Trivia: The main vampire in the original mini-series 'Stephen King's Salem's Lot' was created to look exactly like Max in 'Nosteraftu', as a homage to the first popular vampire character in cinema... ;;))

The actor's name is Max Schreck in a F. W. Murnau's landmark vampire film: Nosferatu (1922). The original movie was silent and Black-and-White. Oh, way before my time (hahaha).

He died at about 28 yrs old, bringing n to the pixure Bella Lugosi.
Lon Chaney did several other films too, he does look creepy doesnt he?
