Ughh..can we stop with the iPods? Chances are she already has one but even if she didn't that's such an impersonal gift.
Get her something that you actually put thought into. A gift basket with lots of little goodies will be something she enjoys more than any expensive gadget.
Get a basket and put in some cute pajama pants, some packages of hot chocolate, a cute coffee mug, some smell good body stuff (lotion, bath gel), and maybe some fuzzy socks. She'll love it...especially if she lives in Montana lol..gets pretty cold there and she would love to sit in her warm pj's drinking hot chocolate..and of course, think of you ;-)

I agree that an iPod is expensive. My husband got one for me for Christmas last year and I knew he would be very insulted if I hadn't kept it. He commented a few times prior that I don't spend enough money and I said he spent too much. So I kept it as it's nice to have a toy that isn't totally practical. My husband is in his last year of grad school (seminary) so of course it was a bit too much, even though he was doing his internship and getting stipend (the closest thing to real money he'd gotten in a few years).
An engraved pen. Staples or Office Max, or Office Depot should have some Cross pens for under $25. I don't know what the charge is for engraving, so either put her name or just her initials on it. I plan on doing something similar for my husband for either Christmas or his birthday. He's in his last year of seminary. Recently, a friend of ours spent the night (they're classmates and he lives about 45 minutes away; He had a few beers and crashed on the couch) and left a pen. It was engraved with his initials on it and my husband liked the way it wrote. So I'm going to ask our friend where he got it so I can get one for my husband.
If not a pen, maybe something else she can use in what she hopes to be her future career.

I think an Ipod might be a little expensive. I know my cousins in college all want cash cause they need gas money. That would help her out a lot because gas prices are rising. Just give her a 20 or a 30 and that would fill her tank.

It is very nice of you to think of your cousin.
There are so many little things a person needs in college. How about calling or writing her mom and ask her to suggest something.
Food items are always welcomed.
