This isn't necessarily the sign of a problem. The fan running is cooling the inside of your laptop. It is possible that dust has collected on the heat sink inside and is reducing the efficiency of the heat sink and that is why is running all the time. It could also be that the fan being a couple of years old is just louder than it used to be and you notice it more. I wouldn't worry about it too much. You could try taking the hose from a vacuum cleaner and put it up to the back to try and suck some of the dust out. Just make sure the laptop is powered off when you do this. If the fan is excessively loud you may need to have it replaced. But otherwise I think you will be fine.

The computer fan must run all the time it is on, the processor develops allot of heat. Without the fan, some electronic components would quickly fry.
Additionally, the fan will be noisier as time goes on unless it is replaced.

De-frag and compress volume space to make more room.
