It would be my instant reaction to say kill them all but then again, wouldn't that be giving them an easier way out.
I would prefer for the monsters to locked away with no food or water, no electricity and privilages until he/she dies a slow yet deserve death because to me that is torture, just like thousands of children have experienced through-out their lives.
Children should never be acted upon in a sexual manner, ever, and the paedophiles should never be released or spoken to, should be treated as if s/he doesn't exist, as if s/he is not human, because the truth be said, s/he does not deserve life. Period.
This question is very interesting and I appreciate you wanting to know what us, as the society, think. Our society has a job and that is to protect OUR children in every possible way against molestation and paedolphilia.
I would like to use this time to thank-you, for sharing your past and for surviving child abuse and becoming soulful woman I can easily tell you have embraced.
I wish you all the luck and happiness in your future, your an inspiration to every woman on this planet.

Well the sexual harassment of a child is disgusting, morally and horrifically on the development of the child. The child would most likely be scarred or hurt in some way throughout their lives, yet at the same time I think the situation of the pedophilia should also be accounted. I think that if it is a case of child abuse that the person should get maybe a 5 years - life + volunteer work + rehabilitation efforts. Child abuse shows that the convict obviously has a mental state that is harmful if reestablished to society, so I think more then anything a focus on rehab and work ( to pay back for what they've done through action rather then time ) is something to be accounted. Sexual harassment of a child is also a problem relating to a mental state... so maybe the same sentence I guess. I don't think that someone's should be taken regardless of the action, they could pay back through volunteer work rather then rotting in soil. Plus although I don't like to say it, these people have problems mentally that lead them to these actions.. So effort should be taken to help them although I think only a sufficiently decent response to this rehab and therapy should allow them to return to society, with some time done. I really think that effort should be taken to rehabilitate these people before we just kill them without the effort.

All convicted peadophiles and child abusers logically should be castrated because sexual preference is not something a person can change even if they choose to. But as society these days is so PC this will never become law therefore these people need to be kept in jail permenantly. Those that are also convicted of either killing a child or severely beating a child should also be given the above treatment.

1: They harmed a child, they did not kill the child so to kill them is entirely unwarranted.
2: It's a subjective case. What's sexual abuse in one instance is misunderstood motivations in another, and if their are underlying mental or physical conditions then those should be accounted as well.
If it's a person who can be expected to know better doing something to a person whom is too young for them to be in a legitimate relationship with, IE: an 18 year old male with a 12 year old girl. then trouble definitely is to be given to him. However, current laws call an 18 year old who sleeps with his 17 year old girlfriend a sex offender.
Now, while I don't at all agree with sex outside marriage, I don't think it's right to label someone a sex offender because they had sex with their girlfriend.
It's an entirely subjective scenario that I think should be taken from the ground up in every case.
Now, what I would hope to see is perverted people held to areas where they can't be around children, period, ever.
But, also treated in such a way that they are not recidivists.

Upon conviction they should immediately undergo castration so that in the event they are released after their sentence is completed they will no longer have the sexual urge. If a similar crime takes place after that they should be permanently incarcerated.
Crime is not an easy thing to understand and why humans commit such acts is the foremost enigma of life. Weakness of the mind one would think and cosmic influence a possibility I guess for some.
We as a society punish with understanding of our shortcomings which creates the dilemma.

I think they are mentally unstable. Maybe life in jail is a bit harsh, but i feel they should serve there time and then be put on house arrest or in a place just not as bad as jail. They shouldn't be part of soceity though, they shoudl not be alloud to walk the streets. Or if we do let them walk the streets they shoudl have a tattatoo saying paedophile. The stares and everything else from people whoudl be very hard to live with also. About leathal injections, that just won't work. They don't even do that to people who take someone elses life. For you though i do realize it causes trust issues, makes you feel very insucure, and you basically lost your child hood.

well first you have to define PAEDOPHILE!!!.....it all very well getting angry but the anger of the public needs to be channelled where it can actually achieve some thing. at the moment (as the law stands). a young man of 18 is a paedophile if he has sex with he's 15 year old girlfriend.......how stupid!! and confusing is that ? (reality check please)....to achieve a decent level of controle and get the dangerouse preditory paedophiles off of our streets we have! to hava a structure of age. trouble is, no! one wants to go there....it seems a taboo subject. but you have to define what is a child. (you know what!!. a great strapping 6 ft testosterone driven yob who steals cars is not a child) yet the law says he is. a 15 year old girl who has been sexualy active from the age of thirteen and has many sexual pertners under her belt and hangs around street corners in gangs of sex seeking youths...is not a child. i think paedophilia needs to be re defined properly to stop the confusion and protect the real children that need that protection. a child is some one who has not yet reached puberty. there is a lot of difference between a paedophile and a dirty old man.(outher wise most builders would be in court on a weekly bassis) hanging out of a lorry window going cor!! look at that, they never looked like that when i was at school HARDLY!! comes under paedophilia when the school girl in question has it all going and is dressed like she just walked out of a night club. the subject needs to be talked about rationaly. because all this hang all !! of em up by the balls regardless stuff is actualy masking the activity of, and even aiding the real dangerouse b@sterds that should be taken off our streets. i personaly think that a real paedophile, that is a man over the age of 21 who preys on little kids under the age of 13 realy needs to be facing the death penalty.

I am a dad and my reactions are cut their nuts off but also as a mentor and counsellor i know some of these people have a illness and need treatment they should be locked away for a long time but the do gooders say it is wrong to long a dirty bastard up like a animal so until the government understand exactly how people feel about this kind of thing and the public reactions it will stay the same no matter what country you are from the powers to be who make the decisions are there because we voted them in if you don't like it why vote for them and if you don't vote you are happy with what they say you are the power you have the vote so if you don't like what is going on think about it before you vote a dirty scum bag like this should be put into a room with 20 mothers and see how he likes the fear Dave

This country is not about lynch mobs, or at least, it isn't supposed to be. How many people have been put to death for a murder that they didn't commit? How many people, now that we have DNA to work with, are being proven innocent for a so called "sex crime" still today and released...so, being convicted does not make someone guilty if they didn't do the crime. Death is permanent. Sexual abuse of any kind, whether a child or an adult is the victim, is deplorable. You know that there are people who have murdered and gotten off scott free...and the opposite is also true, so let's think twice about putting someone to death or cutting off their penis or whatever you are considering. I don't claim to have all of the answers, but I know one thing...if someone actually admits committing something like that or if DNA or other positive proof is obtained, I do agree that from that day forward, if this was involving a minor, that person cannot be around a child, period. If someone allows that person to come in contact with a minor, then that person is also guilty of aiding in the commission of the crime.
So, put down your torches people, what you are suggesting is ridiculous and simply cannot be done in a so called civilized society...there has to be other ways, ways to thwart these kinds of people from ever having access to children again. Now, if the victim is an adult and lived to tell about it and makes a good witness, then I don't think that the criminal should ever see the light of day again, seriously...not death, but life....he won't live long in general population any way.
And yes, I've been there too.....but, it didn't take my life away because I didn't let it, and neither do you have to. You make the choice, you are still breathing and you still have a life...and, you can make a difference in someone else's life if you stepped outside of your skin and put someone else ahead of your bad memories. No, it isn't pleasant, no, it isn't fair, but yes, you can decide whether to take control of your life and no, you don't have to revisit the situation on a daily basis, only if you want to.
EDIT************* There are many ways to sexually molest a child or an adult, and it doesn't always involve a penis....the worst part is the rape of one's mind and spirit.

I think that it depends on the situation completely. It's hurtful to see so many people here saying that death would be the best thing when every situation is so individual. My father is a convicted sex offender, and I can tell you that his crime did call for a prison sentence, but certainly not death. If there was to be stricter punishment for sex offenders, it would need to be very open because sexual crimes can be almost any degree of crime.
Not all sex offenders take the lives away from their victims. In my father's case, the girl took his life away. (on a statutory rape charge) And a lot of those people are completely ok to return to society. If rehabilitation was taken more seriously in our country's prisons, we would have less of a problem on our streets.
I think that there are people who deserve to spend life in prison after what they do to children, however a general statement about registered sex offenders is unacceptable. I just wanted to give a different opinion on the topic.
