Their immune system, while similar to ours, may not respond to the same things we do--and some scientists aren't positive Vitamin C beefs up our immunity. Bees do get Vitamin C from the nectar of plants--for example, flowers of violets have more Vitamin C than oranges. Therefore I wouldn't think they have Vitamin C deficiencies. Until we completely understand our own immune system I don't think big money is going to go toward the bees--no matter how important they are to us.

Very interestingly, honey bees immune system is closely related to the levels of AMINO ACIDS in their systems. 10 AMINO ACIDS were identified as being essential to their health.

The higher the protein levels in their body, the longer and stronger they live. Less level of protein in their body make them more susceptible to DISEASES.

Those protein are mainly from flower nectars of course. Bees need balanced diet of sugar, protein, vitamins and minerals,as well as water is just like any animals. Though honey bees need vitamins which would include VITAMIN C (which is very high in nectars), the role of such vitamin in their immune system has not yet been defined.
