X Y coordinate system is very arbitray. You can pick any location & figure out how many miles it is from any other location. That's not very meaningful.

How many miles you are above sea level ... that's normally the Z direction ... typically you can look that up in the facts about the city you live in.

I think what you might be interested in is the Latitude (how far from the Equator) and Longitude (how far from the East West meridian).

This kind of stuff is often shown on many maps and atlases. For example, I live in Evansville Indiana, I go to search engine & find our airport, which needs to have this kind of information for precise navigation.
http://www.airnav.com/airport/EVV

There it is in black and white.
The Evansville Indiana Airport is
* 418 ft above sea level
* 38-02-13.1866N Latitude
* 087-31-56.5141W Longitude

Now I can go to a city map, and figure out the scale, and on that measure how many miles I am, east west and north south, relative to the airport, and from that figure out what the numbers are for my home.

You can do the same kind of thing
1. Search Engine
2. Nearest Airport to where you live
3. City Map
4. Scale on that Map
5. Find your home on it, and the airport
6. Do the math

Pinpoint your house on a satellite map or geological map that displays coordinates.

You can also do this by going to the courthouse and asking to see a plat map. It is a detailed map of your house and surrounding property.
