You have one of two possible problems..
1.Your waste line is clogged, but not totally or else it would empty out of your toilet.
2. Your air vent is blocked, either by leaves or rodent.
Check out these two areas, and I am sure your problems will be over. Good Luck !

If you have a septic tank, then it may be full. go easy on the water and give it a rest. If you have a city sewer drain, then you may have a venting problem, Try to use Drano Drain CLEANER not opener. It's a green liquid you pour in the drains at night, the enzymes eat away at slow clogging drain gunk, this will take awhile to fix, but it;s cheap and really works. sometimes if the washer is running and you drain the tub the same time the washer drains, then it's a simple over load on the drain. still use the drain cleaner.

You have a clogged vent pipe and need to cliean it out., or you don't have 1 period. Those are the little black or silver pipes coming out the roof.
If you can get on the roof safely.... stick a garden hose in it and apply pressure. If it is not glooged the water wont come back up.

Your plumbing may need a "vent stack", or if there is one, it may be plugged with debris.
The "vent stack" is a metal or plastic pipe that extends through and above your roof. It is different than the heating chimney or vent.
