Hmmm.
I didn't know the dixie chicks were still around...so much for their impact to social issues.
So, to answer your question:
Does it matter?

Treason? Hardly. They spoke their minds, they
didn't partake in war against America. Did we miss
them trying to overthrow the government?
The Dixie Chicks were actually among the few
who stood up first to speak out about Bush.
Since that time, if they are considered traitors, there had
better be a waiting line for others getting the same
name, because a great portion of Americans now
feel the same. They are just not as brave to say it in public.
If someone thinks Bush is an ignorant fool, so shall
they be completely entitled to say so.

The Dixie Chicks were and are far from treasonous. They gave their opinion about Bush. Since when is that treason? It's part of the 1st Amendment, you know, that tiny paragraph in the US Constitution guaranteeing the right to FREE SPEECH. Or has the Bill of Rights and the Constitution fallen to the PC police too?

The Dixie Chicks were expressing their freedom of speech. They would have been considered traitors under the old Soviet regime. We haven't dropped that far, have we?

It's not even a question of truth, all they ever said was that they personally didn't like Bush and were embarrassed by him...
and for that, the CULT leaders instructed the CULT followers to see this as the ultimate form of treason. Unlike exposing undercover CIA operatives, which is perfectly acceptable.
NEO BILLY, your profile says to be 40 and liberal is brainless...yet here you are claiming that the Dixie Chicks comments were literal, legal treason? Interesting, I'd love to see your well-researched findings on that.

They were speaking the truth.
However, most people who listen to that type of music are Red Neck Republicans, so the message did not go over well.

Nobody should be considered a traitor when they exercise their right of free speech.

They've got guts, that's for sure. What they said cost them, in many ways, but they've held their ground... and these days far more people agree with them than do not. They didn't always enjoy that support, but it's heartening to see that they do now.
