I would like to put my own web site and sell some of my stories online. I already know how to get an online account, but I'm wondering what will it take to get a credit card from my local bank when you're self-employed online. What do you need from your own website that would allow you to own your own credit card. Are there very vital documents involved that I would definitely need to obtain one from my local bank ? Please tell me what I have to do to get it?

employment has little to do with the credit card if you are getting through your local bank -- they are more interest in you past banking history and you future!!!

Why does it matter where you get your credit card from, unless your bank is offering something really great? There are some really great credit offers out there. If you want to build some trust with your local bank to borrow money down the road, then your best bet is to keep your credit score up. You can do this by not utilizing all the available credit on your card, and making your payments on time. If you want to apply and be guaranteed you'll get approved, try www.creditsmartie.com. They have guaranteed approval cards. Good luck!

Yes, but I wouldn't. There is no theft protection using a bank card like there is with a credit card. If you don't have a cc, I would recommend creating a Paypal account and make online purchases through that.

You'll be self-employed and provide the same information any other self-employed person does. The question your bank needs to answer is if you are "gainfully" self-employed and you will be able to answer that by properly maintaining your account (in the black).
