The car is just an object, you are what is important.

you mean you were rear ended?
if so,it's not your fault!
People have to stop at traffic lights and stop signs but if the guy behind was following too closely or distracted and crashed into you, then,it is their fault. They failed to maintain safety distance of at least 1 car length. The police and insurace investigators have always maintained that rear end collisions are the fault of the guy crashing into the car in front. You have no reason to worry for you followed the law and stopped when required to do so.
One more thing, now that it is snowing and roads are coated with freezing rain, please maintain 2 or more car lengths and slow down way below the speed limit cos even when you stop, your momentum will slide your car into the one in front and this time if you hit them, you are at fault.
The police said that someone must always pay for the accident since no one can sue the snow and freezing rain, they have to sue you.Sounds bad but that's the law.
Last but not least,if the police say there is freezing rain, for pete's sake, don't drive at all.If you can hardly walk, imagine driving your car and sliding into another car or intersection. The insurace jackup is hardly worth the anger and pain and fines one is subjected to...take care!

:( There are a lot of bad drivers out there. At least you weren't at fault and their insurance will have to pay for the damages. And most importantly, you're ok! :)
