Yes. I remember about five years ago, when I used to do deliveries to the West End of London, there was a homeless young girl who used to sleep outside McDonalds in the Strand. I used to give her loose change whenever I saw her there. A week or so before Christmas, she sat there early in the morning as I passed and I stopped as usual and gave her a few coins. She told me that she was cold, somebody had stolen her blanket during the night. She was about the same age as my daughter and I felt so guilty to see her like this that I gave her a five pound note. Her face lit up, you would think she had won the lottery. I didn't see her again until Christmas Eve, and I did the same again. She thanked me and said 'Merry Christmas.' I think that was the most sincere thank you and Christmas wish I have ever had. I never saw her again after that, but I hope that somehow she managed to get her life together, maybe she returned to her family, I will never know.

Sure everyone does. This is the time of the year that people quench their conscience's. Because we all know that there are no homeless or needy people between the months of Jan. thru Oct. See that's when they all do the yearly good deed and feel like they can go on with a clean conscience the rest of the year guilt free. They donate to homeless shelters, soup kitchens, Salvation Army etc. These people suck and they all know who they are. I hope some of them read this and realize that they are one of those people.

Yes. Every year I volunteer, at least 2 days if not more, at the Salvation Army's Giving Tree at the local mall where people pick out names and go buy a gift (or several) for a child or senior who otherwise wouldn't get anything for Christmas. That is the only giftgiving I do. Everyone else gets a card.

I think of the poor and needy all year long. But at Christmas, I think of poor and needy children. Toy drives and angel trees are a great way to try and make the holidays special for them.

All year round really but mostly at Christmas time. I also think about OAPs who have no family visits at Christmas time.
I used to work in an hotel that gave the local OAPs a Christmas dinner and party. It's quite sad when you hear one say that they haven't spoken to any one for weeks, another who told me she has milk delivered so she can talk to the milkman when he calls for the money and one lady who said how much she loved the Christmas 'do' because it's the only day of the year when she has someone to sit next to.

Absolutely.. with two feet of snow outside.. it's hard not to feel that it's a good time to send some money and food for the needy... and with what's left over, it's good to keep an eye out for the freezing stray cats and dogs that also need help now that the cold northern winter is here (for me anyway!).

Yes. My parents have told me that for two years the salvation army provided my christmas presents. Now I never walk by a "Bell Ringer" without dropping a dollar in. Further I volunteer at a couple of places. 1) for serving meals 2) for wrapping and distributing presents to underprivledged kids.
Just giving back what I once received.

Yes especially the homeless as you do not know why they become homeless not all are there of their own fault.
I always give to charity at christmas time and send things in to my daughters day centre and respite and even though she has passed will still send in a donation.

Yes, I do a couple of shoeboxes for kids in Eastern Europe, and also give a couple of presents to a charity that gives presents to kids from homeless families. I don't have any young kids to buy presents for anymore, so I probably get as much enjoyment out of it as those who receive the pressies.
