The question is the opening lyrics to a 60's classic. I was looking for the song title and artist. I've seen many post lyrics and picked an oldie.

I have seen people walking down the street crying, and I always stop and ask if they are okay or if there is a way I can help. Almost every time, the person gets angry at me for asking.
But a couple of times the person didn't get angry and told me what the problem was. Once it was helping them find the hospital to get medical help (they had a blinding migraine and couldn't find the clinic).
Another time was to hail a cab and give the driver a $20 to take a young woman home after her husband locked her out of the house with nothing (not even a wallet).
The feeling of helping strangers was worth every penny.

I cant watch people cry without feeling a huge need for comfort them. Plus if i saw you crying i would start crying too. So i would probably walk up to you and ask you if you were ok and if there is anything i can do for you.
And that wouldn't be a heartless act.

Well, its not really safe to go up to a person you don't know....
If it was an adult, I wouldn't go up. I might try to avoid you..
I don't think it's a heartless act, you crying was none of my business.
If it was a child, I might ask what was wrong. Or I might leave you alone. When I cry, I really want to be alone...I wouldn't want anyone to come near me til I cooled down.
