Have you asked him if he would consider using Kodiak as a middle name? I think it's very unique but not my taste.

I live in Alaska and think its cute but a little odd when I hear people using all the city names up here for childrens names....Sitka, Kodiak, Denali, etc....BUT that being said Kody with a K is awesome...Koda is also a beautiful name. Why not just name him Kody? Or Koda and call him Kody? I think Koda is really pretty....I love pretty boys names but are still manly if you know what I mean. The two of you will always know that the root of the name/idea came from Kodiak. And that's all that matters right? ***BABY DUST FOR YOU***

My science teacher from last year has a son named Kodiak, so I don't find it weird, it sounds normal to me! He's the cutest little thing and everyone loves him, no one has ever said he has a weird name. So I think you should go for it. And calling him Kody is a good idea too! So he'll have that unique name, but a normal nickname that people could call him. As for other other names, Dakota, Colby, Corey, are along those lines. But I think you should stick with Kodiak. Good luck!

The first thing that came to mind when I read your question was 'bear.' Since that has a lot of meaning to your fiance, I think it's very nice. I can't stand the nickname Kody though. I have never cared for that name -- sounds white trash to me. Sorry. But Kodiak, given that it has meaning, is very nice.

Kodiak is cute, I just keep thinking of Cameras! If you want a Kody, then just name himi Cody! KOdiak is a real name, it means island. Don't worry about school. MAinly, kids barely get teased (at least not in Phili) other than like second and third grade. And in those grades, they will get teased for everything! I got teased for my hair, my friend for being asian, another girl for dressing weird. A name really won't get a kid teased.

I really don't like that name either. If you want him to go by Kody, then name him that. Yeah, I also doin't think it would go over well in school. When I see the name it reminds me of Kodak, and I would think of a camera, not a cute little boy!! For your own sake, I hope that you do have a daughter.

It does remind me of Kodak.....however, its not that bad, since he is a wildlife biologist. It make it have meaning, its not like you guys just pulled it out of the air. I think that makes it unique and different, but if you truly hate it, put your foot down. If you dont youll regret it later. Kody can also be short for Dakota.

Awwww... it's a "Kodiak" moment! Why not just Kody? I mean the K is different from the generic C, right?

I have a friend who's real name is Kody. It is a nice name. Maybe go with just Kody or Cody. That's cute. :]
