The French are revolutionaries!
The French government has a damn good reason to pay attention to its people.
The last rulers of France that did not listen to them were made to look very small.........well actually about a head shorter than everyone else.
The English have been trodden into submission by the rulers of the country for the last thousand years by a class system that makes it very hard for the little man to hold any real sway with how the country is run. Which is now why we are so despondent when it comes to elections for parties that have exactly the same policies, all we are really choosing when we tick that little box is a different face to see on the news spouting his/her endless drivel and proving that they haven't got a clue how to get us out of this mess we have arrived in by their mismanagement.

(Yep, I'm a lil' annoyed =0P )

Absolute garbage!!! The French have always relied on us to get them out of scrapes until we were stupid enough to be led by the nose by Edward Heath into a common market which has never been a common market! The French and Germans then took control of a Europe which neither are fit by destiny to rule, as they are both avaricious and self-seeking but as we blindly stumbled and staggered in their wake and have ended up engulfed by other non productive countries to a European economy such as Italy, Spain, Portugal and now the eastern block we no longer are a country or have the people who will stand up for our once GREAT BRITAIN, world class country who gave law and order and democracy across the globe. How i hate to be pitied by Les Francais - what a bitter pill - but they now rule Europe, create the laws but don't implement them - only the stupid Brits do!

ahhh socialism .....

socialism looks great on paper, but the reality is, it is a huge failure when an entire countries infrastructure is based on it. france has historically always been a more socialist contry than ours - their workers have far more 'rights' than ours - but look at the results - they have a larger unemployment level and a weaker economy - those at the top have twigged - and they , like someone has mentioned - are trying to take a leaf out of Thatchers book by trying to remove some of these rights - and everyone goes on strike. They recently tried to take away a section of 'rights' for under 24's I think and all the students came out waving their placards saying how unfair it was, but the reality was that employers hiring someone under 24 and finding out they were rubbish could not sack them because of the workers rights that they had - upshot of which, employers dont want to hire under 24's - it is a compromise situation

my father used to talk about when every resource in this country was nationalised and tehy employed three people to do one persons job - hugely innefficient and all funded by the taxpayer - is that how you want to live is it ? do you want to pay taxes to subsidise a postman (whose basic skills are reading and walking - sorry posties but do you honestly think you should get teh same wage as a nurse ??) to get paid more than you because they work in the public sector. do you think it is fair that a train driver gets paid 1.5 times the wage of a teacher or nurse because they are more than happy to down tools at a breath and dont give a crap about who they inconvenience

well i dont

It's to do with pensions. Sarkosky wants to stop the benefits local government workers recieve - a train driver with SNCF can retire at 55 at the mo on full pension.
He got his ideas from a certain Margaret Thatcher, apparently...

Yes we do moan and groan, but never do anything. I have often wondered what would happen if there was not one single person who would go to vote on Polling day. I think that would throw them into a big tizzy. It would perhaps shake them up and then start to do what the People wanted and not what they want. But as you say we have not got the guts to say or do anything...and that is why we moan..!!

Revolution, strikes, where has it really got them?
All I can see is arrogance & style.

You are on line, also whinging.

Look, it's 2007, there really is not a lot we can do, in any of our countries. Strikes are not the answer.

This is the time we live in............we need "Balls" just to live & get on with life. It's going to get harder, so knuckle down.

I agree with you, us Brit do nothing but moan about things in this country, but refuse to stand up against our government, i think its more to do with being able to pay their bills as this country is so expensive that most people have no choice but live above their means and consequently have commitment that stop them from strike action.

The French strike all the time ,if its not transport its their fishermen. .I know that I will get another load of thumbs down but Mrs Thatcher curbed the power of trade unions and since then the British, on the whole, have cried off striking. Pity the French government don't ask Mrs Thatcher to do the same for them.

Rubbish. The French have a history of doing it, that's all; we don't. Neither is right, but the chickens have come to roost in France as today's generation is having to pay for the state benefits which they could never afford. They have a nice life but bone idle.
Our only problem in that respect is the stupid index-linked pensions we pay to MPs and all civil servants, police and the like, while private workers can't afford to retire.

it's actually not the real french citizens going on strikes. It's mainly the african muslims who live in slums and are demanding more and more from a country that has given them so much freedom that they can only dream of from where they came from. It's not a french thing, it's an islamic issue that we in the west know too much of; them putting their demands above our rights.

lol "nativexile" do french women have balls??
