Whenever the first McDonalds opened, its was actually green after the owners favorite color. But someone took a leak on it and it turned yellow. The owner was too lazy to clean it so he just kept it that color. That the origin of the Golden arches.

The golden "M" was visually similar to the original "Golden Arches" that were actually built into many of the buildings in the 50's and 60's when the company was young. You can see a picture of one in this link to the original San Bernardino,CA location on Route 66.

The only orange condiment McDonalds serves is thousand island dressing, and depending on freshness: mayonaisse.
But mustard is yellow, and goes good with ketchup, which is the "other" color the franchise uses alot.
