I used my microwave this morning and it worked fine. I just tried to use it a few minutes ago, and it started making this loud buzzing sound, with the light flashing on and off. When I opened the door, the inside was smoking. It's only seven years old, and it's not a cheap model. Does ANYONE know what this could be (and how much it would cost to fix)? I can't afford another really nice one, and I know that it's technically possible to live without a microwave, but it would really suck. Thanks for your help:)

You will have to buy a new one, it is shot, Unplug it and don't use, u need no fire. They are cheap now at wallmart and other stores. good luck...

My hubbys friends where just talking about microwaves the other day! The said that there is a fuse inside that needs to be replaced. and it is really cheep too. I would right down the make and model of your unit and take it to sears or a good hardware store and ask for the fuse. you can go on line and get the directions to change it if you don't have your manual . i hope this helps. please let me know how things go;.

You didn't say what you had in the microwave at the time. If you had anything in it with metal on it, it would create the same effect. Sometimes your dishes have metal lines around them for decoration. Make sure nothing metal is in there. Otherwise, it sounds like its fried.

Sorry but you need a new one,if it could be fixed it would probably cost more than it would be to buy a new one.
