No, it's called a Pineapple upside down cake, because you line the pan with brown sugar and pineapple, then put in the batter. When you turn it out of the pan, everything will be on top. Hence, the name.

Sure is, when you bake an "upside down" cake and flip it over when it's cooked you would have a "right-side up" cake.
