This is very common. The African Americans and Native Americans were both disenfranchised groups in early America and run-away slaves as well as freedmen African Americans were welcome in many Native American groups. Also Native Americans were enslaved along with African Americans in some areas of the South. So the two groups mixed a lot in the 1700's and 1800's. By the 1900's there were still areas where assimilated minorities lived together in mixed communities and you see the signs of this a lot in gulf coast states coastal cultures and cuisine even to this day. This should not surprise anyone. The cultures the African slaves were taken from had a strong resemblance to the Native American cultures, so they had a lot more in common than with the Western Europeans - for the African Americans, Native American settlements seems a lot like home.

You need to grow up and you need to learn how to write in proper English. Why do you talk about the same stuff every single day? Don't you have a life?

Okay, I hate when people say this. Most black people in the US are a quarter white. I am HALF BLACK and HALF WHITE...the only multiracial people are the people who are purely mixed from their parents. I hate when people try to make themselves a race that they're not, just to try and pretend like they are better.

hey, i am a multi-racial too.
My grandma has british parents and is very white, my grandpa is black and he is descendent of slaves. My mum is white, but her mum is Costa Rican and daughter of indigenous people and my mum's dad was spanish and I was born in a Latin country.
I have to give long explanations when they ask my race, but i dont mind. I think is so cool to have so many different races and so many cultures to learn from in my family.
