This might be a simplistic view. Has anyone consider making the work week shorter. I am willing to bet that this will lower crime. Parents can keep an eye out on their kids hopefully preventing them for associating themselves with criminal elements. Criminals will be willing to maybe go to work instead of committing crimes. What do you think Europe does it why cant we ?

Assuming maybe higher wages and lower taxes to equalize everything. Yes some parents dont have great parenting skills but simply by their presence kids are less prone to hang out with the wrong crowds... A lot of Welfare don't want to go to work but maybe with a shorter work week some might consider. It works for Europe just do the research.

If you shorten he work week people will have to work more jobs just to get by, If we can get a living wage passed than we all can get by on just one job and since most people only commit crime like stealing and such because they are poor a living wage will eliminate some amount of crime but in no way all or even a good percentage of it EDIT TO KIKER, ALOT OF HIGH INCOME PEOPLE HAVE NO PARENTING SKILLS EITHER.

Your assumption is premised on the notion that reducing the work week would also lower crime. Additionally, you assume that lower income parents posses the skills to be good parents. While some do, not all of them, so this doesn't alleviate crime, as crime is predominantly the by-product of lower socio-economic standings. Furthermore, these lower socioeconomic persons are already home a lot, its called Welfare...and their offspring are still running with crime.
Finally, Europe is not a good example of this, as they have serious issues too...particularly of the domestic terrorism persuasion.

it doesn't work for Europe. That is why Sacrozy was elected. We have Germany suffering with 45% of its population on some form of public subsidy and France suffering under similar conditions. Both countries are equally being crushed under heightened inflation as a result of the impact of this 'socialism' lifestyle has had. Moreover, the labour laws in both countries required large scale revisions to adjust for these issues, which were the principal causes behind the economic lags. If it weren't for the weakening dollar, the situation would be getting worse (which has lead some to believe the US is all too accommodating for this, which means there may be something afoot here...but i am not one for conspiracies). So your touting of the European example as proof positive of an successful result is erroneous and not in full possession of the facts. Adjusting the work week, while wholesome and nice, is no silver bullet to address the complex situations you have presented. While it may be a nice tool to implement, without further support from drastic, large-scale sociological, political and economic changes, it will result in absolutely nothing.

Crime in America has more to do with access to The Good Life and the various tools required to obtain it. Education, for instance, should be something better than a crapshoot:

Would a shorter workweek also improve efficiency? Yes, probably, as it has in civilized Europe.

Crime in many case but not all is a function of poverty. The most effective means of lowering crime is not decreasing the work week (thus decreasing the wage most people will earn) It is job creation, outreach and opportunity.

No, shortening the work week would mean working people would have less money, and more time on their hands. When you're broke and have nothing to do, what do you do? You go out and steal something.

I'd say we should promote concealed carry handguns that way criminals know if they go to commit a crime they're probably going to get shot then they wont commit crimes because really they are pansies then we can work all we want
