if the fire
burns into midnight
will love still remain?
wake in the morning..
will we love into another
day ?
can we trust each other
to love into midnight
just once again ?

Love burns brightly
Where no other light will burn,
It will burn beyond a thousand lifetimes
And Millions of Midnights have passed.
Trust the phoenix of the rising Sun,
To warm the eternal love of two souls

Introducing this with fire was a good idea. It primes us to make the connection that love is like a wild living thing that may rage, and warm us, but which will ultimately die. It raises the basic insecurity that walks alongside love - what solace can it ultimately offer us when there's no guarantee? Granted, it doesn't look at the guarantees that are given in love.... maybe since we know they too can be false.

Those in love, or romantics may object. But those who've walked the outskirts of love will get it.

Yup. It's a poem. And a rather sweetly poignant poem at that.
